General Administration of Customs Abu Dhabi and Emirates Post Group sign MoU at GITEX to strengthen cooperation

The General Administration of Customs, Abu Dhabi signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Emirates Post Group, at the GITEX Technology Week 2022, which is being held at the Dubai World Trade Centre. The MoU was signed by H.E. Mubarak Matar Al Mansoori, Executive Director of the Customs Operations Sector, General Administration of Customs in Abu Dhabi and Obaid Mohammed Al Qatami, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer at Emirates Post Group, with an aim to strengthen mutual collaboration.

The MoU is intended at establishing enhanced communication channels between the two entities, realising a common vision in the interest of the emirate of Abu Dhabi, and build an exceptional joint relationship to achieve mutual strategic goals. Under this agreement, both entities will work together to develop and implement best practices and strengthen collaborative initiatives between both sides.

The MoU reflects the General Administration of Customs’ commitment towards improving customs work, which is in line with its vision of positioning itself as the leading authority in customs across the globe. It aims at enhancing security, facilitating trade, and providing high standard of services by adopting the best practices, initiatives, and customs services that would contribute to maintaining a strong leadership position, as well as providing solid support to partners.

H.E. Mubarak Matar Al Mansoori emphasised on the commitment of the General Administration of Customs, Abu Dhabi, towards achieving its vision, mission and strategic objectives that stem from the goals of the Abu Dhabi government’s plan, that aims at facilitating optimum procedures to provide the highest standards of service to its customers. He highlighted the importance of the collaboration with Emirates Post Group, which will further contribute to enable a smooth flow of trade in Abu Dhabi by reducing time and cost across operations. Additionally, the MoU will facilitate exchange of data and information in advance, set an exceptional general framework for cooperation, and further maximise the potential available to each entity in terms of shared services, increase reliance on digital platforms to ensure minimum human interaction and setting up an efficient system to organise and develop joint procedures and operations. It also promotes the application of e-commerce model by establishing an effective communication channel with relevant registration authorities.

Obaid Mohammed Al Qatami, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer at Emirates Post Group, said: “We are pleased to sign this MoU with the General Administration of Customs, which aims to facilitate enhanced trade exchange in the emirate of Abu Dhabi.
