“Hag Al Laila” Photo Competition

Celebrating UAE Heritage through Your Lens
Emirates Post invites the community to take part in a special photo competition designed to celebrate and preserve the cultural heritage of Hag Al Laila, one of the UAE’s cherished traditional occasions. This initiative aims to showcase the most creative, expressive, and meaningful photographs captured during previous years’ celebrations, images that highlight the joy, colours, and community spirit associated with this beloved event. Through this competition, we hope to bring together diverse perspectives that reflect the essence of Emirati traditions and the significance of passing them down through generations.
The winning photographs will be carefully selected to feature in a commemorative postage stamp issue scheduled for release in February 2026. This unique stamp collection will serve as both a cultural tribute and a lasting archive of community memories. As a mark of appreciation for the invaluable role that individuals play in preserving national heritage, the names of the winning photographers will be printed directly on the official stamp, an exceptional honour that celebrates both their creativity and their contribution to documenting the UAE’s cultural legacy.

Participation Guidelines

Participants can submit their photographs via email or through the designated link, ensuring they include their full name, mobile number, email address, the year the photo was taken (if available), and an optional description. All submissions will be reviewed by a joint evaluation committee, which will assess entries based on creativity, quality, and relevance to Hag Al Laila and UAE heritage. The committee will then select the top six photographs to be featured in the 2026 commemorative stamp issue. Winners will be announced in the first week of January 2026 and contacted directly. As part of their recognition, winning photographers will have their names included on the official Emirati postage stamp and will be honoured at an official ceremony during the stamp reveal event.


To ensure fairness and authenticity, all entries must meet the following criteria:
  • The photo must be related to Hag Al Laila and reflect UAE heritage.
  • The photo must be taken by the participant and captured in previous years.
  • Minimum quality requirement: 300 dpi high-resolution image.
  • Light edits are allowed, but the original essence of the photo must remain unchanged.
  • Photos taken from the internet or copied from other sources will be rejected.
  • The committee reserves the right to disqualify any entry that does not meet the criteria.
  • Participants grant Emirates Post the right to use the submitted photo in the stamp issue and in promotional campaigns without compensation.
  • Each participant may submit one photo only.
  • Open to all ages residing within the United Arab Emirates.

This information helps the evaluation committee verify eligibility, contact participants if needed, and gather context about the submitted image, especially when it relates to previous years’ celebrations.
